Under the express entry program, there are three other sub programs which include

  • Federal skilled worker program
  • Federal skilled trades program
  • Canadian experience class

The express entry program is very flexible and available to everyone. Applicants will be selected for permanent residency if they meet with Cumulative ranking system cut off score.

How Does the Express Entry Program Work?

  • The first step is to find out if you qualify for the program
  • You will be required to create an express entry profile
  • You will get your CRS score which is calculated based on your age, work experience, qualifications, language proficiency, job offer and spouse factor.
  • You profile will be entered into the express entry draw every two weeks.
  • Canada government will be releasing the cut offs scores
  • Applicants with higher CRS score will be invited.

THE PROVINCIAL NORMINATION PROGRAM (PNP)

The Provincial Nominee Program is a set of different Canadian immigration programs operated by the Government of Canada in partnership with individual provinces, each of which having its own requirements and ‘streams’.

This program is for workers who:

  • have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory
  • want to live in that province, and
  • want to become permanent residents of Canada

Each province and territory have its own immigration programs that target certain groups and their requirements. For example, in a program stream, provinces and territories may target:

  • students
  • business people
  • skilled workers
  • semi-skilled workers

How does the provincial Nominee program work?

If you are interested in immigrating to Canada from Ghana using the provincial nominee program, then you need to choose a province according to where your skill is highly needed and then apply for nomination within the province.

Your application needs to be accepted and this takes between two to nine weeks depending on the province. After acceptance, you will undergo a series of checks which includes, police, medical and security. These checks will take at least six to eight weeks months to complete. Ones your nomination is successful, the provincial nomination program will assist you with a work visa before immigrating to Canada.

VIA STUDY PERMIT

The interesting thing about study permit is that its valid for the length of your study program plus an additional ninety days. Full time students will be allowed to move in with their partner if they are eligible for a work permit or visitor’s visa.
